Mexico City is set to welcome one of the most iconic musicals of all time as Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera opens a brand-new production this November. Under the direction of producer Morris Gilbert, the show will take the stage at the historic Teatro Insurgentes, with opening night scheduled for November 6.
Among the talented cast, Opera Voice and Bodywork student Tomás Castellanos has secured a coveted role. Castellanos will join the ensemble and also serve as cover for the role of Monsieur André, one of the two managers of the Paris Opera House.

For Castellanos, the opportunity marks an important step in his professional journey. Gilbert stated that the cast of this edition of Phantom has the highest artistic level:
“When we choose people for our team, at first we don't even know their names, because what we're interested in is their talent and their skills, because we know that's what's necessary to support a project like this,” Gilbert said.
The Phantom of the Opera remains one of the most celebrated and long-running musicals in the world, and being part of its Mexico City staging offers a chance to work alongside some of the country’s top musical theatre professionals. It is a triumphant return to the city after almost 25 years of the very first Mexican production of Phantom.
Audiences can expect a production faithful to Lloyd Webber’s legendary score and dramatic storytelling, brought to life in one of Mexico City’s most renowned theatres.
With its blend of timeless music, romance, and spectacle, The Phantom of the Opera promises to be one of the most anticipated cultural events of the season.
Tickets are expected to be in high demand as fans prepare to experience the magic of the Phantom in Mexico City.
